What is your comfort zone? Is it that place where you feel safe, without stress, confrontation or uneasiness? For most of us it simply means doing what comes naturally. What feels good or right based on our own logic in any given moment. It usually means making whatever decision necessary to get what we think we need to make us feel comfortable. In control. Obeying the Law of Nature so to speak. To follow the natural course of human nature.
Stepping outside of our comfort zone is never easy. It usually means doing things differently. Going against what feels good. That in itself can be really scary. Half the battle is first recognizing what is good and what is harmful, then deciding to do what is good, even though it’s difficult.
For instance, let’s say you are feeling very lonely and may have recently been rejected by someone you love. You may feel inclined to turn to others that you know are not going to encourage you, or support healthy decisions in your life, but you choose to settle for the negative attention anyway just to temporarily satisfy your loneliness. This may leave you feeling even more lonely and maybe even guilty for settling for a less than favorable outcome.
On the other hand, instead of settling for the negative and unhealthy attention, you decide to take the entire situation, your feelings, your thoughts to the foot of the cross. You take some quiet time with Jesus Christ and you ‘Cast ALL your care upon Him, because He cares for you’. 1 Peter 5:7. You will end up with the total Peace of God, Wisdom, Protection, Provision. In the long run you come out on top!
Pressing your way through and out of your comfort zone to lean heavily on the everlasting arms of God will eventually bring you to the place of a different comfort zone. The Life of Your Dreams. The Man of your Dreams.
Jesus Christ, the same yesterday, and today, and forever. Hebrews 13:8 Don’t Quit! It will be well worth it overall.
On a journey of healing and hope with you,
