Leaning Towards Love

In every season of falling in love there are moments of leaning into the neck, chest and arms of your loved one. The man or woman that takes your breath away! He or she gives a few moments of comfort when we lean hard into the warmth of him or her. Too quickly those memories fade into moments of despair, sadness, or a mixture of emotions that lead us to fear and doubt. Remember I said in earlier posts that “Feelings are fleeting”?

Our emotions and feelings are gifts from our One True Love, Jesus Christ who also had all of these emotions. On one hand our emotions help warn us and show us we are human. On the other hand our emotions have the propensity to take us away quickly. When they do we need to be in control of them. When they rise up in rebellion to the Truth we must bring them captive and subject to the Word of God.

Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:5

When we are overwhelmed with emotion, for whatever reason, maybe it’s menopause, maybe it’s a break-up, maybe someone hurt your feelings, we CAN LEAN HARD ON JESUS CHRIST! Get a mental picture of Him as the photo above, holding you with more Love and Compassion then you can ever imagine. No human being can ever love you like He can. HE IS LOVE!

Read all of Psalm 37 “Rest in the Lord”. Here are a few bullet points to ponder before and after you read it:

Fret not. Trust in Him. Delight yourself in Him. Commit your ways to Him. Rest in Him and wait patiently for Him. Fret not. Cease from anger and forsake wrath. Fret not to do evil. Delight yourself in the abundance of Peace. Though you fall, you shall not be utterly cast down, for the Lord upholds you with his hand. Depart from evil. The mouth of the righteous speaks wisdom and his tongue talks of judgment. The law of his God is in his heart, none of his steps shall slide. The wicked watch the righteous and seek to slay him. The Lord will not leave him in his hand, nor condemn him when he is judged. Wait on the Lord and keep his way. But the salvation of the righteous is of the Lord, He is their strength in the time of trouble. And the Lord shall help them, and deliver them; he shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in Him.

The moment we begin to think our situation is worse than others and we begin to fret, is when we need to remind ourselves of Psalm 37. Lies will always be ever present to try and steer us in a wrong direction, don’t let them!

Stand strong in the power of His Might. Ephesians 6:10. You were not meant to carry your own burdens. Moment-by-moment GIVE THEM TO HIM and abundant Peace will be yours.

On a journey of healing and hope with you,

Terri Lynne
