In 1861 the Battle of Fort Sumter in South Carolina was a culmination of the country's failed attempts to stop slavery from entering the United States and its territories. Fort Sumter was surrendered by Major Robert Anderson of the Union to the Confederates with no casualties. Still, Anderson and the Union were praised for their valor and commitment to stopping slavery. This battle was the beginning of the American Civil War which lasted four years and took the lives of over 600,000 souls. But, ultimately set free nearly 4 million souls from bondage.
How does this apply to you? Well, you must first be willing to go to battle when the enemy has enslaved you. Major Anderson originally moved from Fort Moultrie to Fort Sumter thinking they would be defeated due to his canons being pointed out to sea. Nevertheless, Fort Sumter had fewer resources. This was considered by many to show weakness thus igniting a vicious attack by the Confederates. Secondly, you must be confident in who you are and whom you serve, God the Father and Jesus Christ our Lord.
"Casting down (Destroy them) imaginations (All mental images), and EVERY HIGH THING (sophisticated arguments because of your past experiences) that exalts itself against the knowledge of God (HIS WORD), and bringing into captivity (HOLDING UNDER CONTROL) EVERY THOUGHT AND PURPOSE TO THE OBEDIENCE OF CHRIST, BEING ALWAYS READY TO REVENGE (Punish for the same wrong of the assault) ALL DISOBEDIENCE when your obedience is fulfilled". 2 Corinthians 10:5-6 Amplified
True spiritual warfare comes from knowing who God the Father and Jesus Christ are in character and having steadfast confidence in the work of the cross. Imagine a courtroom experience where you are accused of a crime. An enemy has accused you of some area of sin in which you are guilty. You acknowledge, repent, and turn away from your sin truly in your heart. The judge declares your debt is forgiven by the Blood of the Lamb and the Word of Your Testimony (Revelation 12:11). The judge declares all charges against you are canceled. The enemy's post and his chains of slavery are removed. All that he stole from you is ordered by the judge to be returned to you immediately and forever.
This is true in Heaven as it is true here on earth, where the prince of the power of the air resides. The Law is the Law and it is true no matter what you feel. Repentance is necessary for getting the enemy off your back, but remember, your freedom comes from the judge, God the Father, and Jesus Christ who is Lord overall.
"So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. All who rage against you will surely be ashamed and disgraced; those who oppose you will be as nothing and perish. Though you search for your enemies, you will not find them. Those who wage war against you will be as nothing at all. For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you". Isaiah 41
Though you may have experienced some battles defeated, remember, the true Law in Heaven is also true in you. Stay Free in Jesus' name.
