Can you find the cross in the middle of the tangled dry branches in the picture above? In a world full of mistrust, suspicion, and sarcasm, this life sometimes feels like an arduous trek on a path of resistance as we desperately search for common ground, resolution in broken relationships, or clarity in difficult decisions. But as we stay the course, exhausting, despairing, and hard to see, Jesus always gives us a glimpse of the cross.
God knows our longing for healed relationships, easier circumstances, and release from sin as each new day He gently leads us back to the truth of His cross.
On the contrary, it is satan’s character and very being to steal, kill and destroy, John 10:10. And he is the father of lies, John 8:44. Being privy to this, when we listen to his lies and begin to operate in suspicion we fall prey to confusion where there is every evil work, James 3:16,17.
Similarly the children of Israel gave way to suspicion against their brethren the children of Rueben, the children of Gad and the half tribe of Manasseh when they built an altar to the Lord in the city given to them by God at the hand of Moses. Read the story of the altars construction, misunderstanding, explanation, and ultimate celebration in the book of Joshua chapter 22. As they exposed and dispelled suspicious lies they saw clear to arrive to a common witness between them and the Lord their God.
As we do our broken best in the most human way to seek and reflect the cross, God will get the glory, while we get His peace and a clear conscience at rest.
On a journey of Healing and Hope with you,
