The Best in The Worst

It's easy to be happy and at peace when life is going good right? But when life gets really rough, and nothing seems to go right no matter what you do, in fact, when you try to do what's right and treat everyone with respect while giving the shirt off your own back, often things get worse! You may be surprised just how hard life can get while desperately looking for some relief from the challenges coming at you all at once, every single day.

As you begin to reflect back over your life can you pinpoint some pivotal times where you thought you may die, or lose everything, maybe someone you love? What did you do during those times? Did you scream, cry, throw things and curse, over-eat, work too much, or stay so busy just to give your mind a rest from it all? Or maybe you took evasive action with the Lord by your side in hot pursuit of your enemy to recover what he stole from you.

The Best Thing You Can Do On the Worst Day of Your Life IS TO WEEP AND CRY OUT TO GOD. He made us emotional this way!

In 1 Samuel chapter 30, during the transition of national leadership from King Saul to King David, the Amalekites had invaded Ziklag, burning the city and kidnapping their wives, including David's two wives Ahinoam and Abigail. On that day, David and the people that were with him lifted up their voices and WEPT, UNTIL THEY HAD NO MORE POWER TO WEEP. Imagine, it must have been some all-day prayer meeting, exhausting for everyone. David was so stressed as the people talked about stoning him, holding him responsible for the ravage of their land and families. BUT EVEN IN THIS, DAVID ENCOURAGED HIMSELF IN THE LORD HIS GOD.

This was a deliberate action on David's part, not one I'm sure he FELT LIKE DOING, but he did it anyway because it was the right thing to do and he was perfectly convinced it was! Then David went to the Lord and asked him straight out, should I pursue the troops, should I overtake them? And God answered him by saying, yes, pursue them, you surely will overtake them and without fail RECOVER ALL.

And guess what happened? David did recover all that the Amalekites stole from them including his two wives. Nothing stolen was missing, he recovered everything!

So, when the going gets tough, the tough get to crying out and taking back!

On a journey of Healing and Hope with you,

Terri Lynne
