Do you know who you are? Whose you are if you have accepted Jesus as your Lord? Knowing what God say's about you is important. It is vital to your well-being, your peace, your purpose, and your influence in this life. Just because you said a prayer to accept Jesus, either recently or a long, long, time ago, does not mean you don't experience trouble in the here and now. In fact, in many ways, you will probably have more trouble because you accepted Him as your Lord.
But the good news is this, things don't have to be as bad as they might be now. Once you realize, who you are in Christ, and you begin to actually believe and apply the Word of God over your life, as HE SAID IT, with an expectancy that His promises are true, you will begin to experience victory over discouragement, defeat, sickness, disease, and especially hopelessness.
In an early Saturday morning encounter with my Lord, He gave me an even deeper understanding of His love for me/us. He reminded me that He chose, willfully, to come here, leaving his heavenly home, to become flesh, to take on the carnal nature, when He was only God. This was the only way to reconcile us to the Father, to Him. He lived 33 years on the earth in the flesh, feeling EVERYTHING we feel. He felt the battle with our emotions, our feelings, our reactions, and our thinking, and knows it is impossible for flesh to live HOLY apart from Him.
He showed me again, that when I am discouraged, to be reminded that I/we are His children, our character IS HIM. Gradually we are taking on His nature through the Holy Spirit's help and guidance. When we sin, and we do because of the carnal nature, we need not be overwhelmingly discouraged but come to Him for repentance, strength, and healing, and AS WE DO, we become more like Him, and that IS WHO WE ARE. This is the truth. Ask Jesus for discernment and wisdom, he promises to give it.
"If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him." James 1:5 NKJV
We will always sin to some degree as long as we are in these mortal bodies, but, we BECOME and ARE more and more of who He called us to be as we decide to GIVE ourselves to listening to HIM, THE WORD OF GOD, letting IT be our truth moment-by-moment. As children of the living God, we are not simply subject to the tormenting thoughts that come through our brains, we were given authority over all those evil influencers.
"casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; and having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled." 2 Corinthians 10:5 KJV
"Behold, I give unto YOU power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over ALL THE POWER OF THE ENEMY: and NOTHING shall by any means hurt you." Luke 10:19 KJV
Remember, know, and believe WHO YOU ARE. You are His disciple. You are His child. You have His inheritance, His power, and His authority. That's it, plain and simple.
"Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us HOLD FAST OUR PROFESSION. For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need." Hebrews 4:14-16 KJV
For just as the fruit of the earth brought forth fruit of it's KIND, whose seed is IN ITSELF, the HOLY GHOST came UPON Mary and in the POWER OF THE HIGHEST she was OVERSHADOWED and the HOLY THING the SON OF GOD was conceived IN MARY.
GOD HIMSELF PUT HIMSELF AND HIS NATURE IN US. We can be confident that HE will complete HIS WORK in US as we stay IN HIM.
"What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, Go in peace, be warmed and filled, without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, IS DEAD."
James 2:14-17 ESV
So if you know and believe who you are in Him, take action, stand, and declare His Word over yourself so EVERYTHING CAN CHANGE.
On a journey of Healing and Hope with you,
Terri Lynne
